If you’re planning to buy a gite in France to rent out, you can save a lot of time and money with a few simple tricks. By streamlining your processes, you can minimise the time you spend managing your gite so you can enjoy more free time to enjoy France!
These are some simple but effective tricks for doing just that.
Offering online booking is one of the best things you can do as a gite owner. You can use one of the booking platforms if you like or add the feature to your own website. There are booking plugins for many platforms like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and others that can be installed easily.
They make short work of booking, handle deposits, handle the calendar and can even automatically reply to the guest when they book.
Multiple contact methods
Make sure to always add your email, website URL, phone number, WhatsApp, Facebook and other contact methods to your marketing material. You can monitor them all from a laptop or phone and reply quickly.
Being available on the guests’ preferred contact method means they are much more likely to book!
Fixed fair pricing
If you set fixed, fair pricing from the outset, you will avoid those long conversations around discounts, competition and the usual negotiations guests try to make. Those can last for hours and be quite exhausting.
Publish fair pricing, clearly outline cancellation policies, extra charges and anything else you think is necessary for your gite and you should avoid a lot of the to and fro many gite owners have to contend with.
Include an FAQ section on your website
The easiest way to avoid spending time and effort answering questions is if you answer them before they are asked. Publish a clear, concise FAQ section on your website where you answer the vast majority of common questions.
It takes time to set up but once done, you’re answering questions from hundreds of people at once instead of individually. That’s a genuine time saver!
Use email autoresponders
Email autoresponders are those emails send once you buy a product or make a booking thanking you for your custom. You can use them for cheap or even configure one for free in Gmail.
You can thank the guest for their booking and include links to your FAQs, cancellation policy, things to do in the area page and anything else you want to include.
It provides a valuable ‘first touch’ to create trust with the guest and allows you time to confirm the booking and reach out manually without keeping them waiting.
Cross-promote local businesses
Work with local businesses to cross-promote each other. Publish blog posts listing things to see and do, mention those businesses and have them do the same for you.
While it won’t replace your marketing, it’s a valuable extra outreach method and something most gite owners we know do.
These are just a few of the many ways you can streamline your gite to do more with less. We’ll add more tips at a later date!
